Food Stamp (SNAP)
a. Eligibility Requirements
SNAP provides food assistance to low-income individuals and families.
Eligibility is based on the following criteria:

Income: Household income must fall below a certain threshold. This threshold varies depending on the number of people in the household.

$2,413/month (Individual), $3,261/month (Couple)

Assets: There are limits on assets, such as savings and checking accounts.

$4,000 or less (Individual), $6,000 or less (Couple)
-

$4,500 or less (Age 60 or older)
-
Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents (residing for 5 years) are eligible to apply.

d. Reporting Changes
If there are any changes to your income or household situation after you have applied, you must report these changes to the NJ SNAP program; failure to do so may result in a reduction or cancellation of your benefits.
